LVEA invites to a discussion on Lithuania’s energy independence at the BŪTENT! Festival
On 29 August, the Lithuanian Wind Power Association (LVEA) will host a discussion titled “Can Lithuania’s electricity switch be turned off?” at the BŪTENT! Discussion Festival. The discussion will explore whether Lithuania can produce most of the electricity it needs domestically and what decisions are needed to accelerate the growth of local electricity generation.
Lithuania’s energy transformation is gaining momentum – new wind farms are being developed, domestic electricity generation is increasing, and dependence on imports is declining. But how much potential remains untapped? What is currently holding back the expansion of domestic electricity generation, and how can it contribute to strengthening Lithuania’s energy security?
The discussion will be moderated by Arnoldas Pikžirnis, Deputy Director of LVEA, and will feature Deividas Matulionis, Chief National Security Adviser to the President of Lithuania, and Lukas Savickas, Minister of Energy.
The discussion will focus on the development of domestic electricity generation, energy security, electricity grid infrastructure, and energy storage solutions. Participants will also address attempts to discredit the development of renewable energy in Lithuania and explore how the public and private sectors can work together to implement energy projects that serve the broader public interest.
The discussion will take place on 29 August, from 12:30 to 13:30, in Bernardinai Garden, Vilnius. LVEA invites everyone to join the conversation with key energy policy decision-makers and discuss the future of Lithuania’s energy security.
Participation is free and no registration is required.
