Renewable energy
A key function of developing renewable energy sources, such as wind power, etc., in the global climate prevention process is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.
Wind energy currently plays a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Every kWh produced from wind has the potential to avoid around 696 g of CO2, which is created by generating kWh of energy from coal, gas and oil-fired power plants.
In 2020, the planned capacity of wind farms will be around 213 GW, which would help to avoid 316 Mt of CO2, around ¾ of current EU car emissions and 28% of the EU's greenhouse gas emission reduction goal (20% by 2020).
